THREE teenagers taking part in a charity golfing tournament are looking for sponsors.

Shaun Townsend, Robert Dowson and Dale Smith from Skelton, East Cleveland, make up the team called Freeborough's Sweetest Strikers.

They are competing in the British Heart Foundation (BHF) Junior Golf Championship 2003 at Crook golf club in County Durham.

The competition provides a chance for young golfers to compete at a national level at some of the UK's top courses including Ryder Cup venue The Belfry, which will host the final later this year.

Each team plays against other local schools and junior golf clubs.

Dale is relying on his father, Shaun, general manager of a Reg Vardy showroom at Stockton and his colleagues across the group to sponsor The Strikers and help them to provide cardiac equipment and fund heart research in the UK.

Mr Smith said: "I'm proud to be able to help the boys in raising money for such a worthy cause.

"They have been practising for the championship for several months and are encouraged by the support and sponsorship they have been given."

Would-be sponsors can contact Shaun Smith on his mobile, 07720 427120.
