A YOUNG rider from Dalton Piercy, near Hartlepool, is looking forward to her first major championship after qualifying for this month's Horse and Hound winter national dressage championships at Solihull.
Riding her 12.2hh Welsh section A gelding Moonlight Shadow, 12-year-old Emma Sanderson will be the youngest competitor at this year's show.
The pair have enjoyed a successful winter season, also qualifying for the second round of the Trailblazers dressage series at preliminary, novice and elementary levels.
Now aged 17, Moonlight Shadow has been part of the Sanderson family for the last 12 years.
Emma is a very keen rider and is involved with all the horses at home, especially the youngsters. They are the progeny of the family's own stallion, the Anglo-European registered Albern Bewes.
As she gets older, Emma is looking forward to training and competing with these horses
