THOUSANDS of pounds are to be spent renovating Darlington parks.
Darlington Borough Council has announced that the Denes will be included in its park improvements programme thanks to an additional £30,000 cash boost.
The £150,000 scheme to improve parks and cemeteries, announced last month, will see work carried out to upgrade footpaths and improve security in the town's parks and cemeteries.
The programme of work on footpaths includes re-laying paths at North Park, North Cemetery, Eastbourne Park and Stanhope Park.
Maintenance work will also be carried out to improve the condition of footpaths in Sugar Hill Park and Green Park.
The extra funding means that improvement work will also be carried out in the Denes
New benches will also be installed in the parks and cemeteries as well as bins for litter and dog waste.
