A CYCLIST remained in a critical condition last night three days after being knock-ed off his bike by a passing car.
Dr Ceri Williams, 47, was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital with serious head injuries after the accident on the B6279 Ingleton to Darlington road on Thursday evening.
He was later transferred to the intensive care unit at Middlesbrough General Hospital.
Dr Williams, a pathologist at Darlington Memorial Hospital, was due to give evidence at an inquest opening on Friday afternoon.
South Durham Coroner Colin Penna explained his absence because of the accident on the previous evening.
Police are continuing their inquiries into the crash after questioning, but not arresting, an 81-year-old man. Witnesses are asked to call (01325) 467681.
