FAMILIES have joined in a tree planting day at a Darlington park.
The Friends of North Lodge Park organised the planting to help to improve the town centre park area.
They invited local residents to help to encourage more people to take pride in their environment.
The trees were provided by Darlington Borough Council as part of their free tree scheme.
Shane Shrimpton from the council joined the volunteers to make sure the plants were given the best chance of growing.
Mollie Whitehouse, from the Friends group, said: "The tree planting was one of many events we have organised to improve the park and get people interested in it."
