RUGBY players are swapping their rough and tumble sport for a more graceful alternative.
Members of Shildon Town Rugby Football Club are donning pink tutus as they take to the streets dressed as 'pink fairies' and 'lavender luvvies' in the name of charity.
Their adventure will start in the Three Tuns pub in Shildon, where they will be blindfolded in pairs, put into cars and driven to a location 15 miles away. They will then have to make their way back to the pub without any money or access to mobile telephones.
Those taking part in the event are trying to raise as much money as they can through sponsorship for The Butterwick Hospice in Bishop Auckland.
Anyone wishing to join the challenge at 1pm, on Saturday, April 26, will need sponsorship. Contact Sylvia Stoneham at the hospice, on (01388) 603003, for details.
