LEISURE facilities across Hambleton could soon have their own mascot - thanks to the imagination of ten-year-old Clare Lake.
She has won a competition to find ideas for a mascot from local schoolchildren and users of the district council's leisure facilities.
She invented Trunks - an elephant who is into every sport, from swimming and tennis to football and hockey.
"The children were encouraged to be as creative as possible," said David Earl, the assistant manager at Stokesley Leisure Centre.
"We had more than 70 entries and picking one winner was hard. But Clare spent a lot of time on her design and the artwork is excellent.
"Now, we are looking into the possibility of creating a 'real' Trunks to represent the leisure centres."
Clare, who comes from Brompton, Northallerton, won a CD system as her prize.
