DURHAM University's former assistant librarian Richard Caddel has died, aged 53.
Mr Caddel was well-known for his work in the university's Documentation Centre, set up for both business and academic use.
Mr Caddel, who was also a poet, was a prime mover in setting up the university's archive dedicated to Northumberland poet Basil Bunting. He continued as co-director of the Basil Bunting Poetry Centre associated with the archive after he retired in 2000 as assistant librarian. He had joined the university in 1972.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 11.30am at the city's crematorium. Donations to Leukaemia Research are requested in lieu of flowers.
