A RICHMOND museum is hoping to attract children through its doors during the Easter holiday by offering them free chocolate eggs if they can crack a puzzle that takes them into every corner of the building.

The Green Howards' Regimental Museum tells the story of the North Yorkshire unit from its formation in 1668 to the present day.

The Pieces of Eight Quiz encourages young visitors to examine the uniforms, medals and regimental silver, and watch interactive video footage of both world wars in a hunt for clues.

Curator Major Roger Chapman said: "Children who get all the answers right always receive a special certificate but, if they visit over the Easter weekend they will also receive an extra reward in the shape of an egg for all their efforts."

The museum is open daily from 10am to 4.30pm except for Easter Sunday, when it will open at 2pm. Children under 16 are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
