MOODY clouds and the people of the Yorkshire Dales are among the inspirations behind an exhibition of work by one of the region's gifted young photographers.
Emma Amsden, from Carperby, Wensleydale, is displaying some of her prize-winning portfolio in a new show, Vision of the Dales, at Tennants Auction Centre, Leyburn, from May 8.
Thirty-year-old Emma has been profoundly deaf since birth, but has developed a keen eye for the cultural quirks and evocative quality of her native landscape.
Her new show comprises 22 photographs taken over the past year and follows a recently-completed assignment for the Northumberland National Park.
"I like both black-and-white and colour photography, but always prefer to use natural light in my pictures," said Emma.
"There's a beautiful patchwork quality to the Dales which always offers fresh possibilities for an artist.
"I hope the exhibition conveys a sense of 'otherness' or 'apartness' which I sometimes feel being deaf."
