Darlington manager Mick Tait last night saluted teenage midfielder Clark Keltie.

The Newcastle-born youngster, in his first full season at Feethams, hit a superb equaliser for Quakers at Bristol Rovers, but to no avail as they still lost 2-1.

Keltie has now scored three times this season - all in similar fashion, right foot shots from outside the box, at Shrewsbury, Scunthorpe and now Bristol Rovers.

Tait said: "It was a great goal by the lad.

"He has very good technique. He didn't just swing at the ball, he took very precise aim. He meant to put the ball where it finished up, in the top corner of the net."

Keltie has shown plenty of potential this season, and it looks as if he will be entrusted with the central midfield role again next season.

Darlington fans will be able to wallow in nostalgia for the last league game at Feethams this Saturday.

Around 80 former players, going back to the 1950s, have been invited back to take part in a parade of former players, which starts at 1.45.

Organisers have managed to reunite most of the promotion winning sides, from 1966, 1985, 1990 and 1991, while some members of the play off teams in 1996 and 2000 will also be present.

Alan Sproates, who was part of the 1966 team, is travelling over from the USA, while many other players are coming from different parts of the country.

Former crowd favourites such as David Speedie, Garry Macdonald, Colin Sinclair, Ron Greener, Ronnie Harbertson, David Cork and Robbie Painter are all hoping to come along.

The gates will open at around noon, and a special 72 page A4 commemorative programme will be on sale, price £5.
