NEWCASTLE United star Jermaine Jenas has up to two years to apply for his full driving licence from the date he passed his test, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) said yesterday.
The £5m player, who was fined and given penalty points after being caught speeding in his new BMW X5 in North Yorkshire, could only produce a provisional licence awarded to learner drivers when stopped by police.
It emerged that the 20-year-old midfielder, who passed his test about three months ago, had yet to apply for his full licence.
But the DVLA said yesterday that newly qualified drivers had up to two years to apply for their full licence.
After that date, they have to take another test of both theory and practical skills.
The player received three fixed penalty points and a £60 fine after being stopped for speeding on the A1, in Richmondshire.
