LEADING store Marks and Spencer is planning a jobs boost for east Durham.
The firm will open its outlet at Dalton Park, the shopping centre built on the former spoil heap at Murton, on Thursday, June 26.
The company says the 9,400 sq ft shop will create more than 30 jobs and will sell discounted clothes, shoes, beauty products and houseware.
The new store's manager, Mary Scurfield, said: "I am looking forward to welcoming shoppers from Murton and surrounding areas to the new Marks and Spencer outlet in Dalton Park.
"Customers are set to benefit from a huge selection of merchandise at very competitive prices and we are sure it will be a huge success.''
The store will open between 10am and 6pm Mondays to Saturdays, except Thursdays when it will close at 8pm, and between 11am and 5pm on Sundays.
The 55-acre site boasts 75 shops - selling designer goods at discount prices - cafes and play areas with free parking for 1,200 vehicles.
Dalton Park attracted 150,000 visitors during its first ten days of trading in April and drew 23,000 over the last bank holiday weekend.
Centre director David Gosling said he was delighted. "With summer around the corner, and with lots more events planned, I anticipate an outstanding first six months.''
