Fundraisers are being offered the chance to abseil off the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton, to raise money for blind and partially sighted children.

The abseil will take place on the weekend of June 21 and 22. It costs £10 to register and participants must raise at least £75 in sponsorship. Anyone who raises £115 will receive a free T-shirt. Call (01388) 450087 for an application form.

HERITAGE WALK: People can learn about Hartlepool's industrial heritage on Sunday during a guided walk organised by Tees Archaeology. The walk will take in the docks and harbours, and will examine buildings such as the coal dock office and Seaton High Lighthouse. Anyone wishing to take part is asked to meet at the entrance to the Museum of Hartlepool, at Hartlepool Historic Quay, at 2pm. BEADING WORKSHOP: A beading workshop will be held at Norton Green Community Centre, Norton, tomorrow, from 10am to 4pm. Beading and craft supplies will also be on sale. The workshop costs £20, to include all materials. To book a place call (01642) 892697.

POLICE TALK: A police inspector will attend the next meeting of East Redcar Residents' Association, which will be held on Thursday, June 5, at 7pm at the town's Rye Hills School. People living in east Redcar are welcome to attend.

COFFEE BREAK: A coffee morning will be held at the parish hall of St Hilda's Church, Mersey Road, Redcar, on Saturday, June 7, from 10am to noon. There will be cake, book and plant stalls, as well as a raffle. All proceeds will go to church funds.
