Middleton St George made it five wins out of five and lead Division A following their seven wickets victory at Haughton.

The home side were restricted to 58 for eight as Simon Rodgers returned the splendid bowling analysis of five for 19 runs.

Armstrong, who opened the innings, was still there at the end unbeaten on 15 which was the highest score for Haughton.

Replying Middleton St George conceded three wickets but were never in serious trouble and Stephen Rogers carried his bat for 18. Gill took two of the three wickets to fall for just 13 runs.

Barton are second and they have four wins and a draw from their first five fixtures. J Frankland was in magnificent form against Barningham when he took nine wickets for a miserly 22 runs and the home side were all out for 52, this after Barton had posted 117 all out. Bell (22) and Wilson (26) put together a partnership for the second wicket before man of the match before Pheasant top scored with 27. McGarr had a good day with the ball for Barningham returning figures of five for 46 and Musford took four for 50.

Rockliffe Park hosted Cockerton and won by 92 runs to stay third from top. Pybus (60) and Siddell (42) were involved in a big stand for the second wicket and afterwards Hart carried his bat for 33 out of the Rockliffe Park total of 182 for six. Glew was the most productive bowler for Cockerton with figures of three for 54.

When they went in to bat Cockerton found runs difficult to score and were all out for 91 which included 20 by Gills batting late in the order.

Howles had a good day with the ball for Rockliffe Park claiming five wickets for just 26 runs and Swanwick took three for 23. The pair were given support by Garbutt (2-29).

A thrilling finish ensued in the game between Cliffe and Witton-le-Wear. Faced with a target of 162 Cliffe were all out in 34.1 overs for 158, leaving the visitors winners by the narrow margin of three runs.

Alan Curry raised the hopes of Cliffe scoring 37 with one six and four boundaries and Richard Rutherford carried his bat for 44 including five boundaries. Flunder added a valuable 25 when Willie Nelson took six wickets for 66 runs in 17 overs including three maidens, Cliffe fell just short of the target. Jones was also prominent in the Witton-le-Wear attack with figures of two for 46.

When they batted first Witton-le-Wear ended on 161 for four in 35 overs. Peter Chrisp recorded 11 fours in 75 and his opening partner David Penfold had a six and five boundaries including 42. Nelson added 22 to the useful total and for Cliffe the most productive bowler was Johnson with two for 27.

Raby Castle were all out for 28 at home to Heighington. Waite claimed four wickets for just five runs and Fawcett had four for eight as no fewer than six batsmen failed to get off the mark. Heighington romped home in quick time without losing a wicket.

Aldbrough St John had 70 runs to spare when they were at home to Ingleton. Priestley scored 73 before being stumped and afterwards Hoyle contributed 25 to the Aldbrough St John total of 174 for eight. Gammock, with four for 61, was prominent for Ingleton as were Selkirk and Wood who both picked up a couple of wickets.

When they went into bat Ingleton made a reasonable start and Stuart Dawson scored 26 while Batey and Wood each made 18 but the innings folded on 104 as Sillars claimed seven wickets for a miserly 27 runs and Hoyle took the other three wickets to fall at a cost of 73 runs.

In Division B Rockliffe Park are leaders and they won for the fourth time in five attempts defeating Dales.

Batting first Rockliffe Park were given a good start by Raby (22) and Briggs (24) before Graham carried his bat for 34 out of a total of 135 for nine. Herd with four for 41 and Simpson who had figures of four for 60 shared eight of the wickets.

When Dales responded they lost their first batsman who failed to score before Collinson (19) and Richardson (24) raised hopes but following their dismissals wickets fell cheaply and only 100 for nine was posted as Edwards claimed five wickets for just 32 runs. Lowe, Westgarth and Stoker each took a wicket.

Lands are joint second with Middleton-in-Teesdale after they defeated East Cowton by 28 runs. Faced with a target of 156 East Cowton were back in the pavilion for 127 after 31.5 overs. Openers Mike Richardson, who had four boundaries in 31 and Lee Grant, who recorded two sixes and one four making 32, were both in good form, but when Paul Dalton and Dean Cummins were introduced into the attack the innings only produced 127 runs. Dalton sent down 9.5 overs returning the excellent figures of five for 33 and Cummins had three for 23 in his seven overs spell.

Middleton-in-Teesdale visited Heighington and won by 28 runs. Coatesworth led the Middleton innings with 38 and Watson contributed 28 to a total of 113 for five with Jameson taking three for 53.

Heighington's reply never gained momentum and it was not until near the end that Jackson (28) and Hirst (20) took the score to 85 as Coatesworth completed a man of the match performance taking five wickets for 29 runs. He was ably assisted by Watson with four for 49.

Spennithorne and Harmby were all out for just 25 in 23.1 overs at home to Middleton Tyas. Mark Baxter returned the magnificent figures of five for eight in 11.1 overs, bowling no fewer than eight maidens and Nigel Wilkinson was equally effective with five for nine from 12 overs including eight maidens.

When they batted first Middleton Tyas posted 122 for eight in 35 overs. Ashwell scored the bulk of the runs hitting five boundaries and six sixes in an unbeaten 78 while for Spennithorne Simon Walker took four for 36 in 12 overs and Vincent Greaves had two for 19 from the six overs he sent down which included four maidens.

Spennymoor made a reasonable 122 all out of which Potts scored 43 and Troop 28 while for Eryholme Walker had figures of four for 30, Lynn three for 35 and Robson three for 36.

When they went into bat Eryholme conceded three early wickets before Harper produced a man of the match performance as he finished undefeated on 60 in a four wickets victory. Raul captured four of the wickets for 41 runs and the other two Eryholme wickets were taken by Troop for 60 runs.

Trimdon CCA managed only 58 all out at Catterick Village for whom Swainston returned five for 26 and Gailey five for 27. Catterick Village had little difficulty reaching the low target and after losing three wickets Parsons (28no) and Walker (14) were involved in an unbroken winning partnership for the fourth wicket.
