Brotton were all out for just 38 visiting Hinderwell, who won by six wickets.

Paul Theaker was in magnificent form for the home side and he claimed seven wickets for eight runs in 11 overs, including five maidens. Mark Swain gave excellent support and also from an 11 overs spell, he captured three wickets for 25 runs.

The Brotton innings lasted 22 overs and Hinderwell needed 6.2 overs to reach a winning target, but in the process they lost four wickets to brothers Neil and Mark Broughton. Mark took two for 15 in three overs and Neil two for 16 from the 3.2 overs he sent down.

Runs were also scarce at Dormans where Normanby Parklands were dismissed for just 49. Dale did most of the damage returning figures of seven for 15 and Holland claimed two wickets for three runs. No fewer than 36 runs of the total of 49 were scored by openers Scrafton (19) and Walker (17). Responding Dormans romped home without losing a wicket as Grosvenor carried his bat for 28 and Peart ended unbeaten on 18.

Norton also found the going difficult against Loftus and they also were defeated by a ten-wicket margin. Batting first Norton managed only 63 as Smithies returned three for six, Whitwell three for 12, Brown two for nine and Morrison two for 21. It did not take Loftus very long to secure victory. Pearson finished with 12 not out and his opening partner Sanderson contributed an unbeaten 20, but there were no fewer than 33 extras out of a total of 67 for none.

Paragonians made a useful 134 for seven but still lost to visitors Staithes who won with six wickets left. Allen opened the Staithes reply scoring 38, but it was Ward with an unbeaten 54, who topped the scoring charts in a total of 136 for four. Two of the wickets were taken by Rhoden for 43 runs.

When they batted first Paragonians were well served by opener Melrose who made 55, but the innings produced only 134 for seven as Theaker claimed four wickets for 34 runs and Allen two for 42.

The Merlin defeated Ormesby Hall by six wickets. Faced with a target of 157 they were indebted to opener Pacitto for his unbeaten innings of 46 and to Kirby who had made 35 before he was run out. Caldwell remained unbeaten with 31 in a total of 158 for four. Pooley took two for 50 in the Ormesby Hall attack. When they batted first Ormesby Hall were sent back to the pavilion with a useful 156 on top. Opener Brown made 24 and his partner Wilkinson 37 before Thorpe, batting at number three, added 29 and Leach 20. Tweedy had a good day with the ball for The Merlin claiming half the wickets for 58 runs and Sutherland was also in good form returning four for 48.

In Division Two Skelton Castle defeated Cowpen Bewley by eight wickets following a low scoring game. Tony McCabe returned the magnificent figures of six wickets for three runs in five overs, three of them maidens and Peter Hill captured two for 12, also from a five overs stint when Cowpen Bewley were reduced to 43 all out in 19 overs.

Skelton Castle paced their reply which lasted 16 overs. David Beeforth batted throughout for an undefeated 25 which included a couple of boundaries.

Dormanstown had 16 runs to spare at Loftus B. The winners posted 109 all out which included 27 by Dowson, while for Loftus, Shaw returned the excellent figures of five for 40 and Pearson four for 38. Responding Loftus were all out for 93 which included 23 by Tyreman.

Boosbeck overtook the Normanby Parklands total of 131 all out with eight wickets remaining. Ward opened the reply scoring 29 before David Loraines carried his bat for 36 and S Loraines also ended undefeated on 56.

When they made first use of the wicket, Parklands were indebted to Asif and Rashid who both scored 20 before Fox gave the innings momentum adding 25 out of a total of 131 all out. Daynes took the bulk of the wickets completing figures of six for 68 and D Loraines had three for 55.

Blacksmiths Arms managed just 62 all out at New Marske, who won by 123 runs. G Alderson claimed five wickets for a mere 20 runs and J Alderson had three for eight in the New Marske attack.

When they batted first New Marske ended on 175 for eight which included 36 by Lynn, 43 by J Alderson and 20 not out from G Alderson, while for Blacksmiths Arms no bowler did better than Prosser with three for 53.

Moorsholm realised 132 at home to Ormesby Hall and went on to win by 36 runs. A number of batsmen made double figures, but the biggest contribution to the Moorsholm total was extras on 32 while for Ormesby Hall Gafoor returned the outstanding figures of six for 74 and both Roberts and Hutchinson took two wickets.

When they replied the Ormesby Hall innings was similar to that of Moorsholm in that no player made a big score, but a number added useful contributions before the innings ended on 96 all out.

Burton took three for 21 and Ward three for 32 helping Moorsholm.
