Former Spennymoor midfielder Jason Ainsley has admitted that it has been a big wrench for him to leave the Brewery Field.

Just after leading Moors to promotion to the Premier Division of the UniBond League, Ainsley followed Pollock out of the Brewery Field exit door three weeks ago.

"I feel as if I've built a good relationship with Jamie over the last few months, and I want to continue it with him," said Ainsley.

"I've known him for 15 years, and we worked well together last season, so I believe that we can go on to further things.

"I love Spennymoor, and it's a wrench to leave the club after the success of last season, but there's nothing personal in it. I don't want to break my partnership with Jamie."

Moors owner Benny Mottram tried hard to keep Ainsley, who was skipper last season, at the club, but Ainsley has decided to make a clean break, although he has emphasised that there has been no falling out with anybody at the club.

New boss Alex Mathie, who will meet his new players soon, is expected to name his assistant soon.
