Newton Aycliffe Juniors: The North East harrier track meeting at Monkton Stadium, Jarrow saw Chris Gaffney again shattering the club record at Under-13 level in the boys 800m, with a stunning run for his 2.32 over the 2 lap distance.

The race was won by the son of a former top class middle distance man Tony Morrell, with Chris Gaffney an excellent third.

In the Senior men's 400m race 17-year-old Adam Harker continued his return to fitness with a good sixth place in 56.1 secs, the race was won by Jarrow international Adam Rodgers.

Amy Gaffney in her first outing over 800m as a Under-15 girl showed great promise to finish in fifth place to record 2 mins 48 secs. Amy a relative newcomer to the sport has great potential and should improve with a proper winters training this year.

On Tuesday, August 5 at the White Horse 5.5 mile handicap trail race at Darlington, Paul Harker let two of the clubs talented young guns loose firstly, Lewis Moses stormed through a top line up of runners to produce one of the fastest times for the race since it began.

Lewis finished with a superb time of 31minutes and was by far the quickest athlete on the night. The second young athlete Matthew Bell also ran a fantastic race and was in close contention for 5th place in 33 mins. The clubs older athletes also faired well on the night, Peter Milburn back in 34mins, with Colin Gibson 37 mins, next came John Burnside and Sue Milburn in 38, Linda Connelly 44, Dave McDonald 46 and Pat Edwards 47 mins, making a total of nine runners for us on the night.

In the Middleton-in-Teesdale Gala three mile fell race Aycliffe had seven runners competing, the most runners from any club on the night. First home was Adam Gibson in 5th place 17.31 with his first victory over our main man Peter Milburn who was beaten into 6th place, ahead of the improving Matthew Bell 10th, George Reid 13th, Colin Gibson 16th, Mike Rippon 23rd place and Sue Milburn 24th.
