Black Swan v Grangetown YCC: Black Swan fielded only three players from last season's Anchor Inn team when they entertained Grangetown in their opening fixture.

The early stages of the match were fairly even, with both defences in control. The break-through came when a long through-ball was misjudged by a Grangetown defender, Stephenson latched onto the ball and coolly chipped the keeper. In searing heat, Black Swan increased their lead in the early stages of the second half when Powell finished well, following a superb ball from Lamb. The Swan defence worked tirelessly and Grangetown were limited to long-range shots. A dubious penalty decision gave Grangetown a chance to pull a goal back but Hanratty fired wide. Black Swan keeper, Hankinson, was in outstanding form and deserved his man of the match award.

Lingdale Tavern v Annandale Hotel

A goalless first half was evenly fought, producing few chances. The deadlock was broken in the 60th minute when a well worked ball through mid field led to Shane Breckon shooting at goal, his first attempt was well saved by the Annandale keeper but he made no mistakes with his second shot. Dane Breckon clinched the points for Lingdale when with 20 minutes remaining he rounded the ball into the net after a one on one with the keeper.

Brotton WMc v Highland Laddie

Brotton began the game with a weakened team. Both teams found the game hard to get into with the hard, bumpy pitch and the heat. Brotton opened the scoring on 25 minutes with a well taken goal from a very acute angle thanks to Bushby. Laddie pulled a goal back 5 minutes before half time, Chris Lowther cutting in from the left wing to place his shot into the far corner. The second half began in the same style, the searing heat taking it's toll, showing on the Brotton side who seemed to slow down after the hour mark as legs got tired. Burns doubled the Laddie score with a diving header and with ten minutes left substitute, Daynes, added a third to give Laddie the points.

Redcar Mackinlay Park v Lingdale Utd

Lingdale started the better, pushing Mackinlay Park into their own half for long periods during the first 45 minutes. They got their rewards and went 3 - 0 up with goals from Hololob and Iseton (2) The home team pulled a goal back just before half time when Traynor broke free, shot just outside the box only for the ball to hit the post, Mendum followed up to score. Redcar improved in the second half, Johnson scoring their second from the penalty spot after he was brought down in the area. However a Lingdale penalty sealed the game, Iseton successfully converting to complete his hat-trick.
