Tynemouth Under-15 Tour: Tynemouth made their annual tour of the Midlands playing five games in as many days.

Firstly, they met Worcester Nomads and lost by three wickets. Ben Norman top scored with 48 when the seasiders declared with 138 for nine on the board. In reply, Worcester Nomads scored 139 for seven even though Iftikhar, Harrison and Coates all took two wickets at economical cost.

The following day Tynemouth were opposed to Walsall and won by 31 runs. Batting first, they reaced 201 for seven before calling it a day. After Smith had scored 105 and Coughrie 35. Walsall responded with 170 for six with Robertson taking three for 34 and Patterson two for 56 in the Tynemouth attack.

Their third game was against Lemington and they went down by eight wickets. Harrison (57) and Iftikhar added 25 to the Tynemouth total of 156 all out before Lemington replied with 157 losing just two wickets.

Defeat was also suffered when Tynemouth lined up against Stratford All Stars. Smith (49), Harrison with an unbeaten 49 and Hymers (25no) enabled the seasiders to total 186 for four before Stratford All Stars reached the target with three wickets remaining.

The last game was in Shrewsbury and Tynemouth were defeated by 40 runs. Hymers claimed four wickets for 37 runs as Shrewsbury totalled 201 all out and Tynemouth responded with 151 for nine including 44 by Harrison and 23 apiece from Newman and Coates.

Durham Ladies Festival

Durham had 33 runs in hand of Notts when Danielle Hazell contributed 58 to a total of 177 for six. In reply, Notts were back in the pavilion with 144 on the board and Hazell completed a good game claiming three wickets for just 16 runs.

MCC defeated Yorkshire seconds by six wickets after restricting their opponents to 111 for eight.

Yorkshire were also successful when they were lined up against DWD Village who they dismissed for 77 and went on to secure victory losing two wickets as Whisker carried her bat for 28.

Durham, though, lost by 32 runs to MCC who, batting first, ended with 170 for seven on the board, even though MacDonald captured three wickets for the economical cost of just 23 runs. Responding, Durham could only manage 138 for five including an unbeaten 35 by Rae.

National Under-13 Club Championship

Ashington, representing the Northern Region, were involved in a number of games at Orkham School in Leicestershire.

Their first fixture was against Harrogate and it was the colliers who came out on top by just eight runs. Mark Woods carried his bat for just 33 and Scott Dunn added a valuable 15 not out to the Ashington total of 81 for three before Harrogate were restricted to 73 for the loss of three wickets. Peter Swainton was their top scorer with 22 and for Ashington, Chris Watson captured two wickets for a meagre six runs.

In their second game, however, Ashington lost to Basingstoke by ten wickets. Jonathan Storey ended unbeaten with 30 out of the Ashington total of 53 all out and when Daniel Rouse ended undefeated on 30, Basingstoke won at a canter.

Bournemouth were Ashington's next opponents and it was the seasiders who clinched victory by a margin of 45 runs. When they made first use of the wicket, Bournemouth posted a healthy 148 for two and Ashington could only make 103 for three including 31 not out by Jonathan Storey and an undefeated 30 from Mark Wood.

Ashington then lost by 14 runs to Old Owens of Hertfordshire. Old Owens reached 117 for two and when Ashington responded they could only make 103 all out even though Mark Wood was again in good form, ending undefeated on 30. Daniel Grant contributed 26.

Ashington then played Radcliffe on Trent and lost by seven wickets. Chris Watson top scored with 18 not out before Radcliffe on Trent replied with 80 for three. Finally, Ashington met Hyde and lost by 20 runs. The target was 113 but Ashington made just 92 for four including 30 not out by Daniel Grant and 21 not out from Chris Watson.

Willis Elliott Cup

Burnopfield, from the Fosters Northumberland and Tyneside Senior League easily defeated Durham Coast League side Bill Quay when they met in the Willis Elliott Cup.

Chris Snowball lead the home side to a healthy 159 for three when he struck one six and 12 boundaries in an unbeaten 75. Lee Stoneman contributed 26 and Lawrence Davey 20 with four boundaries, to the Burnopfield total whilst for Bill Quay Dunn took two of the three wickets to fall for 43 runs.

Replying, Bill Quay never got to grips with their huge target and were all out for 62 including a top scoring 21 by Bradley who hit one six and one boundary. Stephen Allen took two for 11 in three overs and Lee Stoneman three for 17 from the four overs he delivered in the Burnopfield attack.

Glenn Robson Memorial Trophy

Eppleton coasted to a ten wickets victory when they met South Shields at Wood Terrace. The home side managed only 44 for the loss of eight wickets as Elliott Hughes captured two wickets for one run, Scott Borthwick took two wickets for four runs, Graham Wilson had an analysis of two for five and Michael Johnson two for eight.

When they went in to bat, Eppleton found no trouble with the South Shields attack and reached the low target without conceding a wicket. Borthwick, one of the most promising youngsters in the area, carried his bat for 22 and Anthony Anderson was also unbeaten with 20.

Just Sport Interleague Trophy

Federation Special Durham Senior League enjoyed a ten wicket victory when they visited the Fosters Northumberland and Tyneside Senior League at Under-13 level. When they batted first the N&T totalled 117 for seven which included 23 by Hubber, with three boundaries, Sam Reynolds carried his bat for 27 and he also reached the boundary line on three occasions. Scott Borthwick had a good game for the DSL capturing two for 25 and Michael Turns had an analysis of two for 13. the two youngsters each bowled six overs. Borthwick then starred with the bat as he and Turns led the DSL to a ten wickets romp. Borthwick struck one six and no fewer than 13 boundaries in an unbeaten 76 compiled from 73 balls while Turns received 60 deliveries and ended with 31 not out which included one six and two fours.

At Under-15 level the N&T gained revenge defeating the DSL by three wickets. When they made first use of the wicket the DSL realised 128 for seven which included 46 by Kane with seven boundaries made from 77 balls. Chris Dorothy gave support with 20 and for the NNT Adam Tinnion took three wicket for 22 runs in seven overs.

In their reply, the NNT overtook the target with three wickets remaining. Marcus Peat top scored with 36 which included one six and five boundaries. He received 51 deliveries and Michael Rourke took 56 balls scoring 22 with three fours. Jonathan Loach was the best bowler in the DSL attack taking four of the seven wickets to fall for just 34 runs.
