A YOUNG woman has landed a top scholarship to help her pursue a career as a barrister.
Shayeena Mamujee from Bishop Auckland will study law at West of England University, in Bristol, from September, having won the David Karmel Scholarship Award from the Gray's Inn Law Society.
The 23-year-old has just completed a first class honours degree in modern languages at Bristol, for which she won the Louis Hamilton prize for outstanding results in German and Russian.
Before that she attended Polam Hall, in Darlington, and St Anne's Primary, in Bishop Auckland.
Father Dr Shaukat Mamujee said he and his wife Naomi, of Brooklands, Bishop Auckland, were very proud of Shayeena's academic success.
