Broughton and Kirby still lead the table following their seven wickets victory at Kirby Sigston.

Faced with a target of 127 they were indebted to opening batsman Scott who scored 77 before being caught. White, Parkin and Robinson then ensured a comfortable victory for the leaders even though Cowton took two wickets for 31 runs in the home attack.

Batting first Kirby Sigston made an indifferent start, but Thompson, batting at number three, retrieved the position and his 64 went a long way towards a total of 126 being achieved. Maltby are also in contention for the championship and although in fourth position have the same number of points as the three sides above them. They had 37 runs in hand of Crathorne who they dismissed for 145. The total would have been a great deal less but for a late partnership between Payne who went in at number nine and number ten batsman Howard Leng. Payne struck 72 and Leng 26 as they put together a big partnership before the innings eventually closed on 145 as Stringer took three wickets for 14 runs, French four for 30 and Hutchinson who claimed the wickets of both Payne and Leng at a cost of 24 runs.

Hutton Rudby batted first at Skelton Castle, but lost by two wickets when the home side reached the formidable target of 165. Gratton gave the Skelton Castle innings a good send off scoring 69 but when wickets fell it was left to Jones batting down the order to become the eventual match winner as he carried his bat for 41 out of a total of 165 for eight. L Cook was the most productive bowler for Hutton Rudby with three wickets for 14 runs, M Cook took two for 13 and Reid two for 43.

Thimbleby managed only 102 all out but then dismissed visitors Chopgate for just 75. Daniels batted throughout the Thimbleby innings ending undefeated on 46 as run making proved a problem. Indeed, the modest total of 102 was boosted by no fewer than 31 extras meaning that 77 of the 102 runs had come from just two sources. Stockton was in splendid form with the ball for Chopgate and his five wickets were taken at the cost of just 35 runs while Vout gave him good support ending with three for 34.

It was then the turn of the Chopgate batsmen to struggle at the wicket and their top scorer was Holmes with just 18. Sinclair took half the wickets to fall for a meager 15 runs and Ward had three for 12 while Garbutt was also in on the wicket taking act finishing with an analysis of two for 26.
