THREE fitness fanatics from Darlington are hoping to prove their might in the final of a national event.

Gym owner Paul Hamilton, 34, and police officers Owen Turnbull, 32, and Neil Walton, 28, will have to undergo a tough series of exercises to achieve success at the National Superteams contest in Birmingham, on October 18.

Detective Constable Turnbull and PC Walton train with Mr Hamilton at his gym, Darlington Boxing and Martial Arts Academy, in Portland Place.

The challenges faced by the trio at the contest include 150 sit-ups, 200 bench jumps, a 15km bike ride and 9km on a treadmill.

"I entered the fittest man in Britain competition and came third, so I'm fairly well prepared," said Mr Hamilton."
