TREES will soon be springing up all over the east Durham area.

English Nature has joined forces with Easington District Council to organise a seed collection day in Castle Eden Dene tomorrow.

The event is part of the Tree Council's Seed Gathering event aimed at growing trees for the future.

On Saturday, from 10am to 1pm seeds will be collected from the ancient woodland then planted and allowed to grow for a year.

The saplings will then be re-planted around the district creating new woodlands from old.

Everyone is welcome to join in and those taking part have been reminded to wear outdoor clothing and waterproofs if wet.
