A NATIONALLY renowned work of art has returned to the region.
Visitors to the civic centre, in Northallerton, are able to see one of the sections of the Madeira Millennium Embroidery, which depicts the history of Britain during the past 1,000 years.
The panel on display covers the 11th to 14th Centuries and is one-fifth of the embroidery, which was commissioned by Madeira Threads, of Thirsk, to celebrate the Millennium.
The work, owned by Hambleton District Council and South Tees Hospitals NHS Trust, will spend six months of the year at The James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, and six months at the Friarage Hospital, in Northallerton.
Anyone wishing to see the panel can visit the civic centre between 8.45am and 5.15pm, Monday to Thursday, and between 8.45am and 4.45pm on Fridays
