YOUNGSTERS in Darlington are being offered the chance to win a year's free swimming by coming up with the best name for a waterslide at the town's Dolphin Centre swimming pool.
The centre, run by Darlington Borough Council, is holding a competition to find a name for the waterslide, believed to be the only translucent one in the region.
The slide will open on October 25 and replaces the Dolphin Centre's curly slide, which has been out of action since April after 15 years of use.
The new slide, along with a refurbished toddler pool, costing £70,000, was installed in a programme of works carried out overnight since August, to minimise disruption to centre users.
The naming competition is open to children aged three to 15 years.
Competition entries should be sent to the Dolphin Centre reception desk by Wednesday, October 22.
Entrants should include their name, age and contact details with their suggested slide name on a postcard.
