Bishop Auckland and District League: Bishop Auckland Snooker Club A pulled off a good win on their visit to Crook White Swan.

The home side had singles points from Andrew Finch, Stephen Carr, Les Sanders and Stephen Murphy, whilst Chris Thompson replied with two singles and Damian Moffatt, Peter Thompson, Wayne Hewitt and Chris Morley added one each. The Swan took the doubles through Lee Airey and Les Sanders, but Chris Thompson clinched the victory in style when he beat Andrew Finch in both captain's games.

Witton Park Rose and Crown fought back from the hill to beat the visiting Toft Hill Three Tuns by the odd point. The home side had two singles points from Dave Jamieson with Barry Thexton, Brian Hardy and Alec Routledge adding one each, whilst the Tuns had Steve Thompson with two points and Vince Hunt, Peter Carnigan and Gary Merryweather adding one each. Graham Cummings and Steve Thompson put the visitors one short of victory but they never reached that mark because Barry Thexton beat Vince Hunt in both the captain's games.

Crook Olde Horse Shoe lead the table by four points from Spennymoor Ash Tree, who are 26 points ahead of Crook Coach and Horses A. However, if the anticipated resignation of Henknowle Manor B goes ahead the Shoe will lead by seven with the Ash Tree 22 ahead of the Coach and Horses A.

Crook League

Ithe Champion of Champions Cup, Neil Campbell of Crook Travellers Rest produced a clearance to beat Gordon Walker of the Spitfire Club in the deciding frame of the Final to be the first winner of the trophy he donated for the competition. The match was the first of the Finals Night held at Crook Spitfire Club.

In the Singles Championship Final Gavin Witton of Crook Olde Horse Shoe whitewashed Neil Campbell of Crook Travellers Rest to became the first winner of the Singles Trophy donated by Les and Jillian Scott of Crook Coach and Horses.

The Doubles Championship went to Brian Johnson and Gavin Witton of Crook Olde Horse Shoe after they beat John Warriner and Brian Wright of Crook Belle Vue Club by 3-1 in the final.

Tow Law Scottish Courage League

Tow Law Dan's Castle A won a vital top of the table encounter when they visited Tow Law Football Club and came through by three points. The footballers had singles wins from Keith Muse and Charlie Donaghy, whilst the visitors had wins from Anthony Hird, Alec Ogilvie, Gary Watson and Alan Henderson. The home side took the first doubles but the Castle completed a good win by taking the final two doubles.

Sunniside Comedian maintained the pace set by Tow Law Dan's Castle A when they won at the Dan's Castle B by three points. Paul Murray was the only singles winner for the Castle whilst Ray Johnson, Dave Walton, John Conley, Keith race and Dave Thompson won for the Comedian, who only managed to take one of the three doubles points.

Tow Law Dan's Castle A lead the table by two points from Sunniside Comedian, who are four points ahead of Tow Law Football Club.

Willington and District League

Willington Commercial travelled to Byers Green Royal Oak under their new name, Willington New Inn. However the new name did not produce good luck as they went down by the odd point.

The home side had singles wins from Paul Brownson, Michael Waters, Ian Brown and Gary Slater, whilst the visitors had wins from Paul Carter and Dave Milburn. The New Inn kept the score close by taking two of the three doubles.

Durham County Super League

Crook Town A held on to their top placing with a four points home win over Shildon A, but their nearest rivals, Horden were able to match their result with a very good win at Ferryhill to stay two points adrift but they have played an extra match. Spennymoor, who only dropped three points at Shildon B, have the same number of matches played as Crook A and trail by seven points.

Crook Individual League

David Craggs moved back to the top of the table with a three points victory over Neil Campbell. Craggs made a spectacular clearance in the first frame and then cleared seven balls from the break but missed the black in the second, recovering later to take it. Campbell looked to have taken the third but wobbled the black to allow Craggs to complete the whitewash.

Adam Martin, who did not have a good start to the competition, proved his qualities with wins against two strong players when he did not drop a frame to Darren Tinkler and then beat David Stephenson by the odd point.

Sacriston Daisy Hill A recovered from two consecutive defeats to record their best win to date in the league when they travelled to Bowburn Hare and Greyhound and only dropped two points, when Ray Miller and Neil Hunter won for the home side. The visiting winners were Simon Baker, Paul Campbell, Ben Bowen, Dave Neill and Lee Holdwsorth whilst Dave Ferguson added the captain's game.

Framwellgate Moor Marquis of Granby were able to leap up to join Consett Stateside at the top of the table after they only dropped one point to the visiting Bowburn Cooperage, whilst Consett Stateside dropped three to the visiting Witton Gilbert White Tun. Durham Snooker Club are in third place, three points behind the joint leaders.

Spennymoor Voltigeur B took revenge for the three points defeat at the hands of their A team in the opening match of the season when they came through to win the return by five points.

Rob Turner, Michael Craddock, Steve Jones and Alan Shaw took the first four points for the B team, before Darren Briggs opened the A team's account. Michael Craddock restored the four frames lead but Darren Briggs won his second frame and was joined by Kelvin Anderson and Dean Mains to make it 5-4. Ian Mains took the last singles to leave the score 6-4. It was all B team after that with Alan Shaw with Andy Cairns taking the first doubles and Rob Turner with Steve Horner the second. Steve Jones completed a good victory for the B team by taking the captain's game.

In the other derby the two Bishop Auckland Grand teams met with the B team defending a 7-6 victory from the opening week. They got off to the best start with wins from Keith Young and Malcolm Cooper before John Rickaby replied for the A side. David Wilson then scored two and Mark Tong one for the B team but Gary McCaskill and Rob Dalton replied with wins in the next two for the A side. T he final two games were shared with wins for Derek Cooper for the A and Shaun Reynolds winning the last singles to leave the scores at 6-4. The doubles games were shared with the B side's Keith Young with Malcolm Cooper taking the first and Michael Keane with Darras Jones taking the second game for the A side. David Baglin claimed the captain's game for the A side but it was still a 7-6 win for the B's.

The next league meeting will be held in Spennymoor Voltigeur on Tuesday, 14th October at 8pm when all teams must be represented.
