Darlington Spraire Lasses: Spraire Lasses Under-13s gained a valuable point in the Darlington derby against Simply Lasses.

Simply Lasses took the lead in the eighth minute when a long cross hit the crossbar and bounced over the line leaving Spraire keeper Katie McTague annoyed. Laura Gowling got the equaliser in the tenth following excellent play by Spraire girl of the match Jordan Atkinson. Helen McTague and Laura Spence had to dig deep in defence to thwart an onslaught by Simply Lasses only to lose a second after 25 minutes. Lauren Claxton was outstanding in midfield making some long driving runs causing problems in the Simply Lasses goalmouth. Gowling got her brace five minutes before the whistle.

Darlington RA

Playing against Wardley Eagles, Darlington went out with a positive attitude. Louise Leach came close to scoring, hitting the side netting after a direct run at goal. Wardley's number seven scored a cracking goal after 14 minutes. Angela Vickers inspired Darlington by pulling off a terrific one on one save, after a break through the Darlington defence. Thirty minutes into the game and once again Darlington's Becks Keller netted from a 25-yard direct free kick to make it 1-1. Shortly after, at the other end, Wardley also took a cracking free kick, which glided into the Darlo net to make it 2-1.

Darlington were all out for revenge when Wardley's keeper denied Nat Wrangham a goal scoring opportunity. The keeper was red carded and Nat Wrangham easily slotted home the penalty for 2-2.

Wardley's makeshift keeper did exceptionally well under pressure to deny Darlington in another goalmouth scramble.

With 20mins to go Darlington's defensive errors cost them two vital goals and they were defeated 4-2.

Darlington take on Chester-le-Street in an away league Cup tie next week.
