Division One, Hartlepool FC 2, Carlin How 3: League leaders Hartlepool slipped to their second defeat of the season.

In a tight first half hour Hartlepool took the lead through James Parkinson. In the second half Hartlepool pressed for a second but were eased back by Carlin How who drew level through Ross McMillan in the 76th minute. Four minutes later Hartlepool must have thought they had secured the points when Paul Malcolmson made it 2-1, but four minutes later Steve Starsmore pulled it back and a minute later Martin Say secured the points for the visitors.

BEADS FC 0, Fishburn Park 0

The home side dominated the first half of the match with Paul Chamberlin, Paul Newham and Ian Swinnerton all missing chances. In the second half it was a complete reversal of the first half with visitors Fishburn Park on top with Paul Graham hitting the bar with his side's best chance but the match somehow remained goalless.

Grangetown BC 1, Nunthorpe Ath 1

A much-improved Nunthorpe Athletic shocked the home side by taking the lead ten minutes into the second half. Steve McDonald one of a number of new players to the Nunthorpe side scored. Grangetown are the only first division side to remain unbeaten and pressed forward to draw level.

Mackinlay Park 1, Richmond Town 1

In the 30th minute Stuart Poulter making his debut for the Redcar side, gave his team a 1-0 lead going into the half time break. In the second half the visitors finally drew level through Ton Ptak in the 79th minute to secure a point each.

SMG Redstripes 1, Thornaby FC 3

Thornaby took the lead through Michael Arif after half an hour, who with his 11th goal of the season, is now the joint top goalscorer with Adam Bramley of Bedale. The Billingham side quickly equalised through Neil Hoban. Just before half time Neil Preston gave the visitors a 2-1 lead. In the second half the home pressed forward but Preston then struck again to make it 3-1 and secure the win.

Stokesley SC 0, Wolviston Res 6

Stokesley Sports Club got off to a flying start when Glen Walker scored in the 12th minute. Andrew Smith then made it 2-0 before Walker completed a first half hat-trick with goals in the 27th and 34th minute to make it 4-0 going into the half-time break. In the second half Stokesley found themselves 5-0 behind on the hour when Smith scored with a dipping swerving shot and James Dinsdale scored with the goal of the game when he turned his defender and chipped the shell-shocked Stokesley keeper.

Thornaby YC 2, New Marske SC 2

In the 27th minute New Marske won a corner and shocked their hosts by taking the lead when Mark Thornton headed home. The Youth Club fought back and quickly equalised when Chris Burton slid home from five yards. In the second half the Youth Club pressed forward and took the lead through Burton's second but New Marske fought back to equalise through Chris Ellis.

Division Two

Billingham W. 3, Richmond Mav. 2

Andrew Moorhead gave Wanderers the lead before Mavericks drew level through Gary Walker in the 36th minute and looked to have set themselves up for a win when Andrew Mollitt made it 2-1 three minutes before halftime. In the second half the match swung end to end with both sides guilty of missing a number of good chances, this rebounded on the visitors in the last five minutes when John Cairns pulled it back to 2-2 in the 85th minute and Jonathan Stewart pounced a minute later to make it 3-2 to the Wanderers and third in the league.

Darlington Alb 2, Guisb Town Res 0

In the last ten minutes Albion scored through Kevin Baines and Rodney Brown with his fourth of the season wrapping things up.

Northern Counties Senior Cup

Bedale FC 0, West Allotment Celtic 5

An under-strength Bedale side were representing the North Riding County Football Association were no match for Northern Alliance side West Allotments Celtic who were the representatives of Northumberland County FA. Bedale without a number of influential players also lost their top marksman Adam Bramley after 20 minutes and were well beaten.

Darlington CB 4, Roddymoor 0

after a balanced first half hour Cleveland Bridge took the lead through Stu Hardy, the only goal of the first half. Twenty minutes into the second half Hardy struck his second and two goals in the last five minutes from Philip Sheridan secured Cleveland Bridge a place in the second round away to Shildon Railway on Saturday, November 1.

l Darlington Simpson Rolling Mills lost 3-0 away to Coundon & Leeholme and bowed out at the first hurdle.

North Riding Challenge Cup

Edgehill A 7, Teesside Ath 2

Teesside Athletic found themselves 2-0 behind before a rousing fightback with goals from Matthew McGurk and Kirk Forsyth pulling it back to 2-2 at half time. But in the second half an early goal from the hosts saw their visitors heads drop and they conceded four more goals before crashing out 7-2.

Dormans FC 2, Redcar Mac Park 0

James McGowan gave the home side a narrow 1-0 lead in a tight even first half. The second half remained very tight but Dormans secured a second round match when Dominic Ingram scored in the 75th minute.

Teesside Link 4, Colburn Town 3

Thornaby side Teesside Link shared a seven goal thriller with visitors Colburn Town. In a ding dong battle Link too the lead trough Ben Willing but Harry Benson made it 1-1. Benson then gave Colburn the lead just before half time only for Steve Hill to make it 2-2. In the second half Robbie Shaw gave Link a 3-2 lead, John Orchard made it all square at 3-3 but Stuart Jackson won for the Thornaby side.

Whinney B. 0, Amotherby & Swinton 3

Whinney Banks poor run continues with a defeat against Amotherby & Swinton who are from the Malton/ Pickering area.
