Richmond and Zetland Harriers celebrated their 21st Birthday with a Reunion Dinner at The Lodge, Leeming Bar on Saturday, September 27.

The night was a great success, attended by over 60, split half and half between past and present members. The four-course dinner was complemented by a highly amusing personal A to Z of athletics from Club Captain, Shaun Purkiss-McEndoo and an equally humorous and informative reminiscence from Graeme Nicholson, Senior Club Coach (retired), on his many years with the Club. Graeme also contributed to the occasion, with help from Ian Hepworth, by producing a quality souvenir booklet - which is still available at £2. The centre tables were occupied by many of the athletes that Graeme had coached - the Oliver sisters, Alison Brown, Donna Riddler and Debra McIlroy and more - and, with the advent of a combined T&F League next year, a lot of Senior Men wondered what sort of team the Club might have had if some of the Women hadn't hung-up their spikes! A mention must also be made of the generosity of Club member Tony Hewson, chef and owner of The Stable Door Restaurant in Middleham who donated a meal for two as first prize in the raffle, which was won by Ann & Graham Purvis.

* The NYSD X-C League commences this Sunday with the Relays at Eastbourne Sports Complex, Darlington and the first race, for Under-13 Boys, starts at noon. Spectators are welcome.
