Ennis Square SC 6, PJS 0: With Middlesbrough PO otherwise involved in the North Riding Cup, Ennis Square took full advantage with a win that takes them back to the top of the table on goal difference.

Man of the match Michael Dixon opened the scoring with a cracking goal running through from the halfway line, playing a one-two with Wayne Gent before hammering the ball home from the edge of the area.

Phil Bellerby tapped home shortly before half time before two goals from Gent put the Redcar side in control of the game.

A scrambled goal from Lee Brady kept the goals flowing before Jamie Smales rounded off a fine performance with a free kick from 20 yards out.

Stokesley 0, British Steel Sports 0

With both keepers catching the eye in this goalless encounter of few clearcut chances, the only thing of note was that this was Sports first league point since joining the league coming hot on the heels of their cup victory a week earlier.

Black Horse 2, Woodmans Arms 5

Woodman's Arm's improvement continued with a convincing win.

They led 2-1 at the break and rarely looked in danger of missing out on the three points.

North Riding Saturday Challenge Cup

South Bank U 6, Lingdale U 4 (AET)

South Bank United produced the performance of the round turning a two goal deficit at half time into a victory after extra time.

Some poor defensive work allowed Lingdale to take an early lead which they doubled by the interval.

Terry Strange reduced the deficit from the penalty spot early in the second period but another defensive slip up allowed the visitors to regain their advantage.

With 20 minutes remaining, South Bank's chances of progressing in the competition were not looking too good when Anthony Gregory brought them back into the tie when he scored with a thundering twenty five yard free kick.

South Bank continued to pile on the pressure and were rewarded for their efforts when Strange converted a second penalty with five minutes remaining.

Gregory put the home side ahead early in the first period of extra time and although they were pegged again when Lingdale made it 4-4, a 30-yarder from Webster coupled with a hat trick goal from Gregory were enough to see them completing a fine comeback.

North Skelton Village 4, Ryedale SC 1

North Skelton Village also had to come from behind to win their game of the season with Lee Preston beating the advancing keeper to cancel out Ryedale's early goal.

Ten minutes after the restart, Alan Cumming's cool finish into the bottom corner gave the Village the lead and they took control of the game when Anthony McCabe's corner was fired home by Chris Dixon.

With McCabe controlling the midfield, it was only a matter of time before they added a fourth and Ben Crooks duly obliged with a twenty five yard shot that gave the Ryedale keeper no chance.

Thornaby Village 3, Loftus Athletic 2

Thornaby Village were another Stokesley League side who made life difficult for themselves when they conceded an early goal, but John Sillock's equaliser gave them the encouragement to go on to win.

Geoff Belt set up Mark Halfpenny for goal number two and when Dave Murray cut in from the wing to make it 3-1, the Village were good value for their lead.

A late Loftus penalty conversion had them sweating a little towards the end of the game, but they held firm at the back till the final whistle.

Kings Head 5, Civil Service (York) 1

King's Head were yet another side who needed to get on the comeback trail although in their case, they only needed ten minutes to cancel out Civil Services second minute opener.

Paul Round Jr. was on the mark for the King's Head equaliser and on 20 minutes, substitute Barry Edwards headed the Guisborough side in front.

Round scored his second of the game shortly before half time before Mark Hallett drove the ball home from the edge of the area on the hpour mark.

Late in the game, Round completed a fine hat-trick beating two defenders before slotting the ball home from the edge of the area.

Middleham T 3, St Mary's Coll. OB 1

A disappointed College side returned empty handed from their trip to Middleham despite looking the better side in the early exchanges.

Early chances however went begging and they had what looked like a good goal disallowed on.

Events took a turn for the worse on 20 minutes when they had a player sent off and by half time found themselves trailing 2-0.

A defensive error in the opening minute of the second half allowed Middleham to increase their lead and although Wally Kaid pulled a goal back from the penalty spot, they failed to turn their possession into the goals.

M'brough Baptists 0, M'brough PO 5

There was better fortune for league leaders Middlesbrough Post Office who never looked comfortable from as early as the sixth minute when John Simon beat two men before crossing for Stephen Dalton to head home.

Simon opened his account on fifteen minutes and added a second when he capitalised on some confusion in the Baptists defence before tapping the ball home.

David Mills slotted the ball through for Simon to complete his hat-trick on the hour mark before the striker rounded off a fine display; cutting in from the wing, beating two defenders before chipping the keeper.

Carperby Rovers 3, Coulby Newham 2

Coulby Newham were the second Stokesley League side to go out to opposition from the Wensleydale League

NS Bulls Head 1, South Park Ra. 13

Struggling Bull's Head had no answer to a rampant Rangers side although their task was not helped by them loosing the services of their goalkeeper early in the second half.

Rangers raced into a 4-1 lead at half time with the Bull's goal coming from Sean Oldfield.

The visitors continued to dominate in the second half with goals coming at regular intervals.
