ARTWORK has been createdto complement a British Asian carnival taking place in the region next week.
Pupils at Branksome School, Darlington, took part in a workshop with artist group Bravura, from Stokesley, to create shadow and silhouette art for shop windows along the Runga Rung carnival route on Thursday, November 27.
A group of 12 and 13-year-old pupils took part in the workshop with Barbara Agar of Bravura.
The works will be hung in the windows of Gallerina, Anglia Windows, Dollond and Aitchison, Williams music shop, Darlington Building Society, the Tourist Office and The Art Shop.
Children at Corporation Road and Mount Pleasant primary schools in the town have also been creating artwork for the carnival, which is expected to attract about 6,000 people.
The Runga Rung is being held instead of the annual lantern parade. A 12ft steel elephant will be the centrepiece for the procession, which will start at 7.15pm at the Arts Centre with fireworks. The finale will be a human Catherine wheel and fireworks in the grounds of St Cuthbert's Church.
