SINGER Suzannah Clarke will perform for patients in the main atrium at James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, tonight.
The Middlesbrough soprano will appear as part of the health trust's performing arts initiative.
Children from Red House School, in Norton, will also entertain the audience with poetry readings.
Suzannah, who trained with Pavarotti's singing teacher in Italy, has sung leading roles in many operas.
She also appeared at the opening ceremony of the Euro 96 Football Championships, singing to 70,000 people at Wembley.
Trust healing and performing arts co-ordinator Margaret Baily said: "We're absolutely thrilled Suzannah has agreed to come along. Having opera in the hospital is definitely a first for us.
"The atrium is an ideal venue, it's a big open space and but I'm sure a voice like Suzannah's will fill it.
"It's also nice to have some of the children from Red House School and I am sure staff and patients will thoroughly enjoy both performances."
