THE Grangetown Star Performers are planning a concert to raise money for the BBC's Children in Need appeal.

The 11 adults with learning disabilities from the Grangetown Centre, who are well known for their pop star impersonations and fundraising, will give the concert at Kirklevington Grange Prison.

The group, who travel to the prison on Friday afternoons to use the gym facilities, will be teaming up with inmates and staff for a combined fundraiser.

The Star Performers have already raised £200 for Children In Need with a concert at Middlesbrough's Marton Hall and Country Club. The event also raised £800 towards centre funds.

It is hoped Friday's event will exceed £1,000.

Concert organiser, the prison's senior PE officer Barry Vernon, said: "It promises to be a smashing afternoon. The Star Performers always put on a good show and I'm sure we'll raise a lot of money too."
