BUILDERS across the North-East will have the chance to be included in the Government's Quality Mark accredited list of tradesmen.

Three events are being held across the region at which builders will have the chance to find out more about the scheme.

It is the start of the Department of Trade and Industry's campaign to encourage companies to join the Government-backed register of approved builders in an attempt to protect the public from rogue tradesmen.

The events are on Monday, February 23, at The Ramside Hall Hotel, Durham, Tuesday, February 24, at Newcastle United Football Club, and on Thursday, February 26, at the Thistle Hotel, in Middlesbrough.

Presentations will be given and question-and-answer sessions will follow.

The Quality Mark scheme will work by approved builders having their details on a national register, which will be available by calling 0845 300 8040 or by logging on to www.qualitymark.org.uk
