PUPILS at a Darlington school are celebrating their success in the swimming pool.
Holy Family RC Primary School was named the overall winner of the small schools swimming gala, held in the town's Dolphin Centre on Thursday.
It is the first time the school has won the competition, which also had entrants from Rise Carr, St Augustine's, Hurworth House, High Coniscliffe, Bishopton Redmarshall, Gurney Pease, Polam Hall, Red Hall, St Bede's, Mount Pleasant and St John's primary schools.
A spokesman for Holy Family said: "The staff and pupils are absolutely thrilled."
Rebecca Ladyman won the open freestyle event, with Lauren Temple coming second. Georgina Hewitson came second in the breast stroke competition.
The girl's team won the medley relay and came second in the freestyle relay.
The large schools gala will be held on Thursday.
