Spennymoor manager Tony Lee believes that his team will do well in the play-offs even though they lost at Gainsborough in their last league game on Saturday.

Moors will be away to Bradford Park Avenue in the first round of the play-offs on Wednesday night, and Lee said: "I think we will do well, because some of our missing players will return.

"We will be a lot tighter at the back, and we will have a really good chance.

"We struggled on Saturday, because we had so many players out."

It was looking good for Moors at half-time, however, because they took the lead when Steve Preen finished off a good move.

But Gainsborough hit back in the second half, when Ben Jones headed in a Gareth Grant pass.

Chris Hurst put them in the lead from a Grant pass, then Lee Ellington scored a third.

Bishop Auckland finished their First Division fixtures with a 2-0 away defeat at Witton Albion, which means they finish in 13th.

Manager Brian Honour said: "We only had 11 players, but in the circumstances we did well. We didn't get the breaks."

After Neil Maddison missed an early chance, Witton took the lead after 17 minutes when Mike Moseley scored from an Alex Kevan pass.

Mark Taylor missed a chance to equalise, but Witton finished stronger and Moseley scored his second of the game late on.

Whitby, meanwhile, will play Radcliffe Borough in the play-offs on Tuesday after their academic 2-1 home defeat by Droylsden. David McTiernan put them in the lead early in the game.

Blyth ended a barren run of defeats by winning for the first time in 15 matches, defeating Alfreton 1-0 at Croft Park thanks to an Andrew Leeson goal.

Gateshead finished well, winning 2-0 at Bamber Bridge with goals from David Colvin and Anthony Shandran.
