A woman who opened her garden for a charity tea has raised £800 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Carol Doak, of Garden Farm, Chester-le-Street, invited family, friends and supporters of the charity to a strawberry cream tea afternoon and asked guests to make a donation. The event also included a raffle and all the proceeds have been given to Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Linda McDonough, the charity's community fund-raising manager, said: "She did a marvellous job in arranging the day and has managed to raise a fantastic amount of money for us."
