LOCAL historians have produced a second CD-Rom of their village's past.

The Wheatley Hill History Club brought out its first disk, containing photographs of the village and its former colliery, in May.

That proved so successful, selling 100 copies, that a second edition, looking at social life throughout the 20th Century, is now out.

Club chairman Margaret Hedley said: "We have about 200 photographs that have been donated to us.

"They are of the groups that met in the village between 1900 and 2000, such as women's groups, pub groups and football teams.

"We have got a third one planned, about schools, that will probably come out after Christmas.''

The CD-Rom costs £10 and is available from the Wheatley Hill Heritage Centre, which is open on Tuesdays, 10am to noon, and on Thursdays and Saturdays from 2pm to 4pm
