TWO swimming teachers have set up their own school for children in the Stockton area.

With more than 12 years' experience and qualifications between them, Carol Taylor and Susan Pearson are offering classes for children aged three to ten at the Little Fishes Swim School.

Mrs Pearson, who lives in Ingleby Barwick, said: "It's so important these days that children learn to swim. Most families go abroad now, so it's vital that children can stay safe in and around the pool."

The school uses local swimming pools around the Stockton area.

Non-swimmers are taught to swim with confidence and can then go on to learn specialist skills such as personal survival.

The first block of classes, run from Our Lady and St Bede's School, Stockton, are fully booked and the next classes are planned to start in September.

The business is currently supported by Walker Hall Business Developers and Mrs Pearson and Mrs Taylor are hoping to expanding throughout the area, with several classes a week.
