POLICE in Peterlee are urging elderly residents who may have been targeted by conman builders to contact them.
Officers have received reports of people being approached by builders who persuade them to have jobs done, then charge high sums for shoddy work.
Detective Constable Neil Robinson said: "We believe these people may have been operating in the Easington, Horden, Blackhall and possibly Hartlepool areas between May and September.
Anyone who has been approached is asked to contact DC Robinson or DC Damian Burns at Peterlee CID on 0191-586 2621.
