A TEACHER'S quest to find out more information on the role her uncles played in the First World War has turned into a tribute to the casualties suffered by an entire community.
Kathleen Anderson, of Seaham, east Durham, began researching what happened to her uncles, Jack and Jim Ogden, who both died in the war.
However, during her research, the teacher discovered there was no single memorial to all the men of Seaham who lost their lives and she set about compiling a database.
After many years work, it is now complete and is the centrepiece of an open day at Seaham Library from 10am to 1pm today.
Visitors can look up information about their relatives from Seaham as well as using a second database covering other areas.
An exhibition is already on show at the library looking at the research she has done, as well as showing the work of children from Parkside Infant School, Seaham.
