MORE than 150 schoolchildren are to take part in a special event aimed at promoting environmental and health issues.

The children, who come from five primary schools in Hartlepool, will take part in the Hartlepool Environment Roundabout, at the town's Education Development Centre.

The youngsters will learn about issues such as waste, recycling, transport and smoking and its effect on health and the environment.

The event, on Monday and Tuesday, is being co-ordinated by the council's Health and Environment Team and will involve staging a series of scenarios to help the children learn.
