THE Cleveland Police force has carried out another sting targeting drug dealers and fine dodgers.

Officers from the four districts of the force raided addresses in Redcar on Monday morning. At the same time, community support wardens were involved in high-profile anti-social behaviour patrols.

Warrants for 57 outstanding fines, totalling nearly £10,000, were executed and within hours of the raids, 14 defendants appeared before magistrates.

Four arrests were made in Redcar relating to Class A drugs, and heroin with a street value of £500 was also seized.

Anti-social behaviour hotspots were also tackled in Normanby, South Bank, Eston and Grangetown, with help from Redcar and Cleveland community wardens.

The action on Monday was part of Operation Sabre, the force's drive against crime.

Chief Insp Andrew Bright, of Langbaurgh Police, said: "Operation Sabre has brought some excellent results.

"Such operations are making a substantial contribution to tackling crime. It should put criminals on notice that their turn may be next."

The latest crackdown followed raids involving nearly 100 officers on Wednesday, last week when about 90 addresses were targeted.
