A SPORTING development is being recommended for planning approval when councillors meet next week.
An outline application to erect a sports pavilion with car parking in a field at Aldborough, north of Chapel Hill playing fields, has been tabled by Boroughbridge Town Council.
Harrogate Borough Council's department of leisure services is strongly supporting the venture, saying it is a key facility for the community.
The project has also been supported by a petition of 300 people and is already included in the Harrogate District Playing Field Strategy.
Members of an area planning committee of the borough council meet in Knaresborough on Tuesday to decide the application.
The pavilion would be next to a road at the eastern end of planned playing fields.
It would be a single-storey structure for sporting and recreational use including changing rooms and a room for various activities.
