INTERACTIVE white-boards costing £1m are being installed in schools across North Yorkshire.
The new technology allows teachers to electronically write or draw on the large screen as if it were a touch screen computer.
The boards have the potential to show PowerPoint presentations and to be used with websites, pictures and videos.
North Yorkshire County Council has invested £1m to buy the boards for its 390 schools. Half the money came from a special Government grant.
All secondary schools, special schools and large primary schools are to get free interactive white-boards, while smaller schools will get a large subsidy to buy the equipment they need.
Martin Wintermeyer, ICT subject leader at Easingwold Community Primary School, said: "We've had the interactive white-boards for a few months, and they are in nine of 11 classrooms.
"They have been a fantastic facility to bring the classroom alive.
"They are a big wow factor for children and staff, and this has not changed since they arrived."
