Chester-le-St TG: At the February meeting Doreen Yeates welcomed members, including new members, Eileen and Marjorie.
Sick members were wished well. After the fire drill there was a talk given by two members of staff from Finchale Training College. Carl and Lynn told of the valuable work of the college. This was well illustrated with slides. Doreen thanked Carl and Lynn for their interesting and informative talk.
After a break for refreshments Dorothy Lowery read the minutes. The door prize for a heart-shaped object was won by P Reay with Margaret Gair and Jean Boggon runners-up. Irene McCartney gave the financial report. Members were reminded about the coffee morning on March 29.
Forthcoming events including quiz, craft event and Federation Day were all mentioned. The outing in August was discussed. Unfortunately the social meeting for February had to be cancelled due to inclement weather.
Witton Gilbert WI: The president Mrs Thompson welcomed 32 members and two visitors to the February meeting.
The speaker John Geddes gave a talk on the Unbelievable Treasures of Witton Gilbert.
The group meeting to be held on April 28 in Cooper Hall will feature a talk and demonstration by Ladies in Pigs. The tickets are now available. L Jackson was congratulated on her efforts for the roof appeal by the sale of chocolates, which realised £205.
