A SCHOOL netball team savoured the sweet taste of success when they won a trophy on their first outing.
Year six girls at Ferryhill Station Primary School had never played netball before competing in a tournament at Ferryhill Business and Enterprise College.
The classmates only managed two short sessions to learn the rules and tactics before beating four other schools.
Headteacher Val Jago said: "A few parents helped us prepare but we just told the girls to have a run out, enjoy themselves and see what happened.
"We were delighted that they won. Some of them were so thrilled they are joining the netball sessions at the town leisure centre."
