MASHAM. - Well-known Beltex sheep breeder and multiple trophy winner David Findlay, of Coverham, Leyburn, made his mark in the cattle exhibition arena when sending out the champion animal at the spring show and sale of store cattle at Masham on Tuesday.

Mr Findlay won with a 16-month-old Charolais-cross steer, which reflected sound trading levels when selling for the day's top price of £750 to Peter Newcombe, of Carthorpe, Bedale.

Mr Newcombe also paid £595 for reserve champion, shown by Paul Newbould, of A Newbould & Sons, Dallowgill, Pateley Bridge.
