A SCHOOL is staging a production of classic fairy tales this week.

Pupils from Polam Hall School, in Grange Road, Darlington, will perform stories from The Grimm Tales.

Children will star as characters from well-known tales such as Beauty and the Beast, as well as from lesser known tales including The Mouse, The Bird and The Sausage.

There will be performances in Cantonese, German and in mime, as well as scenes using masks and dance.

Headteacher Marie Green said: "Grimm Tales is a perfect choice for Polam Hall. Just like the school, it combines tradition - the well-loved fairy tales known to all - with an original 21st Century approach."

The play runs until tomorrow and performances start at 7.30pm.

Tickets are available from the school office by calling (01325) 463383, and are priced at £6 for adults and £4 for children.
